Reaching out.

"Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so LOVE THE PEOPLE WHO TREAT YOU RIGHT, forget about the ones who don't, and believe that everything happens for a reason. If you get a chance, take it! If it changes your life, let it! NOBODY said that it'd be easy, they just promised it would be worth it" -- Bob Marley

This is such a great quote I had to post it. Sadly I reached out to an old friend. I was trying to mend fences. We both made some mistakes and I apologized  but to no avail. So sad.
I think that to put yourself out there is so hard. But good things can come out of it sometimes. It takes courage and a knowledge that you tried. It's sad that some old wounds cannot be healed.
I don't work that way. Just can't hold onto anger or hurt. Takes too much energy. Being right or justified sometimes is not worth it. It's better to let it go and move on. Right on Bob Marley!

  1. thank you for the quote and for sharing your experience... reaching out, saying you are sorry - even just for the hurt feelings involved - is a demonstration of growth, not weakness... life is short (and bob's life is proof of that, he was in his 30s when he died)... embrace those that embrace you... when you lay your head down at night, you know you tried...

  2. Sorry that it didn't work out in the end. But you are a bigger person because of that. Holding grudges makes you so small. Have a blessed day, Miss Libby!
    Enjoy the day!

  3. Good on you for trying to heal the rift. I am sure you felt better for doing so, even if not reciprocated. It showed strength of character that you reached out and was prepared to say sorry. Sometimes I think when things don't work out, it may have been time to move on.......? Thankyou for sharing this story.

  4. I'm terribly sorry. I've tried to do that, too, and had it not work once, and work really well another time. It's hard to know why things are what they are. But you can feel GOOD to know you TRIED. That's HUGE.

  5. I think the important thing in life is that you feel good about your own intentions and actions. It is sad when fences can not be mended, but you will come away knowing you that you reached out. You never know what might happen in the future because of your gesture. But you do know that you tried.

  6. i'm so sorry! but good for you for trying. the trying is what will stick with you. and the fact that they can't forgive but you can forgive them means that *they* are stuck. not so for you! so there should be a freedom in letting go. really. let it go.
