Little Moments.

How was your Fathers Day? I had my Dad over for a "Dottie" dinner. Dottie was my Mom and she was a great cook. I know he misses my mom's cooking so I tried to recreate it as best I could and I think he was happy.

My son is home visiting for awhile before he heads back to school. I cherish these moments when the whole family is under the same roof. I ache for those days when we were all in the house together. I didn't cherish them enough. We are on to other things. Daniel is gone at school and Allie is going to be flying the coop soon.

So last night I yelled down to them to undo the dishwasher and the banter between them was delightful. Arguing, laughter, and general brother, sister stuff brought back so many memories. Every single moment of their lives was a joy. Not saying we didn't have really tough times, but we were a tough bunch and came though it a stronger family.
Oh and are you following Denise Yezbak Moore's blog? You should. Look at her great give away!

  2. I know how you feel about missing everyone being together under one roof again......seems kids just grow up way too fast and fly the coop.....although mine have returned for short periods its never quite the same.....and they are happier being "all growed up" and standing on their own, I guess you just never lose that mommy feeling

  3. I can appreciate your thoughts here, as my husband and I were just talking the other day about how one day everyone will go their own way and it will be just us...in a very quiet house! I'm enjoying the moment as much as I can, appreciating having little ones at home...but sometimes four boys can be a lot for your patience!!
Your Dottie dinner to honor and remember your Mom is a great idea to keep her memory alive.
