Long time no post.

Arggg I haven't had time to post in a while. I am getting ready for a mixed media show at my works Third Friday. It is an open house that we do the third friday of every month.
Each month we have a gallery show with featured artist and this month a couple of the studio artist and I are doing a mixed media show. We are combining glass, fiber, metal, into some pretty cool stuff. I will make sure I take pictures and post them so you can see. It's going to be pretty neat.
I also have been working on a old technique used by everybody but adding my twist on it. Hope you like.

Totally Stoked!!!!
I knew that Kerry was sending me a copy of her wonderful book and the necklace she made from the bead I made for her, but I was still so excited when it arrived. The necklace came in the mail on Thurs, and Friday I got the book. It is glorious. Filled with so much information and great projects. If you haven't seen it yet you need too!
I am so honored she ask me to contribute and can't believe the book is finally in my hands.
When I held the necklace in my hands I marveled at how well made and professional it looked. The way it was constructed really compliments the bead and I can't wait to wear it. Thanks Kerry!

And the Winner Is....Jenny J-V
Congrats to Jenny J-V. Shoot me an email and I will send it on it's way.
Thanks to everyone who left an comment and follow my blog. I really do appreciate it.
I hope to do more give aways every couple of weeks so make sure you stop my and check.
I also have been kicking around the idea of a second blog dedicated to "newbie " glass bead makers and also those who would like to teach glass beadmaking. I have been teaching glass beadmaking for about 10 years now and pretty much know how and why everything happens and tips to make your beads better.
I think having a resource to go to would be a cool idea.
What do you guys think?

Holler atcha Girl
Seems that every time I have some artist come in and teach I pick up new ideas and have a couple of ahh haa moments. This time it was watching Steve Sizelove work while at MGE. He did a simple technique, used both in hard and soft glass and one I have done before, but it caught my eye. He works in boro, me I work in soft glass. The challenge was could I interpret it into soft glass? Well I worked on it and some tries were successful and others...not so much. I did get a couple of fun things and I will photograph all attempts so that you can see my process and how I develop a style..from inspiration to a bead I can be proud of.
So stay tuned they are in the kiln. Check back soon.
Oh and I am going to be having a blog give away. In other words a shameless attempt to develop a blog following! Make sure you stop by on Sunday night for details

Midwest Glass Experience 2010

I finally have some time to show some pictures from Midwest Glass Experience . If you don't know what MGE is, it is a yearly event at the studio where I work. I came up with the idea last year to give people the ultimate experience in a professional glass studio with all the glass toys you can think of! We have glass teachers come from all over the country and teach mini classes for three wonderful days. This year we had Steve Sizelove, Andrea Guarino, Ofilia Cinta, Kate Mckinnon, me and Lisa Colby a metal smith who taught us to solder and set our own bezels. We also had classes in glass blowing, kiln work and cold working.
If you are a glass nut this event is something you cannot miss. It rocks..BIG TIME if I do say so myself.
