I'm Back!!! Oh and Frustrated as heck

I took some much needed time off to spend time with family and get ready for Bead and Button. I leave this Mon. and my class is Tues. and then Meet the Teachers on Wed. Please stop by my table and say Hi if you are attending. I will not have a booth at the show, just my table at Meet the Teachers.

I am super frustrated. I am not one to promote myself too much, and find it hard to contact studio's to have me come and teach my class, but it looks like I may need too. I have students contact me though e-mails, phone calls, etsy, in person asking where I teach so they can take my class. You have no idea how many times I have contacted studios to teach and they say "we will keep you in mind". I guess I am not high enough on the totem pole. It is so hard to tell students sorry. What's a girl to do. Any suggestions would be welcomed! ARRGGGG.

  1. I haven't bought a ticket to Meet the Teachers. I might try to get in at the door if they will let me! I hope to see you there, Libby! I will be tagging along with Heather Powers and not taking any classes. I think this will be loads of fun!
    Hang in there!
    Enjoy the day!

  2. Can you rent a space somewhere to hold a class, and charge enough for the class to cover the rent? I know what you mean about feeling like you are not high enough on the totem pole, but in a diffrent way.

Enjoy Bead and Button. I've never had the time or money to attend an event like this, but it is on my wish list, along with so many other things.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

  3. First, can't wait to see you.

Second -- call. Make an appointment calendar and make a monthly appt to call. Also, make postcards to mail out to these places on a regular basis. The more they see your "face" (your beads" the better. Every new publication, every new thing you do, (even the Blog Party!) -- consider it a press release -- send it out. Make YOU important. SHOW YOUR WORK.

(I'm sure you do this already -- it's the marketing person in me!)

  4. Good suggestions above.
Depending on location, there are always centers where you can just set-up shop for a class. Perhaps someone who is requesting you teach can do some research and make it happen without going through a shop? Also, what about through the local bead society?

Wish you were having a booth this year. Will you be walking around with some of your work?
